He has led teams in the English Premier League (Sunderland, Brighton), LaLiga (Real Betis Balompié), and Ligue 1 (Girondins de Bordeaux). Additionally, he has coached the Greece National Team, gaining invaluable experience in managing national squads and nurturing players at the highest level.
Professional Playing Career
As a player, he competed in three of the world’s most competitive leagues. After beginning his career in Argentina and France, he solidified his place in European football with outstanding performances for Real Zaragoza (1990-97), Chelsea FC (1997-01), and Tottenham Hotspur (2001-04). On the international stage, he represented Uruguay, earning 29 caps for his national team.

During this time, he played a key role in sports management, strategic planning, and decision-making at top-tier clubs.
Currently, he works as an advisor to players and clubs, leveraging his expertise in sports management and strategic development, while maintaining strong professional connections within the football industry. His extensive national and international network makes him an influential figure in the sector.
As Honorary President of the Academy, he provides vision, leadership, and top-level football experience, contributing to the growth and consolidation of the project. His role as a mentor and reference ensures that young footballers receive elite-level training and preparation aligned with the highest professional football standards.

With 17 years of experience as a professional footballer across all levels of the Spanish Professional football leagues (Córdoba, Atlético de Madrid, Getafe, Granada, Almería, among others), he possesses a deep understanding of youth, professional, and elite football in all its dimensions. His career on the field has provided him with valuable insight into the demands, dynamics, and opportunities within professional football.

Academically and professionally, he holds a Sports Director certification from the Spanish Football Federation, a Master’s in Sports Coaching, and a FIFA License as a Football Agent. With over 15 years in player representation and advisory services, he has facilitated operations and transactions primarily within professional football, while also guiding young talents in their athletic growth from academy-level development.
Additionally, his two years of experience working on the mental aspects of elite athletes have given him a holistic perspective on sports performance, recognizing the critical role of psychological preparation in a player’s success. His extensive network of contacts with national and international clubs strengthens his ability to open strategic opportunities for academy players.
As President of the Academy, he oversees and leads the overall strategy, ensuring the academy establishes itself as a benchmark in football development. He serves as a mentor and guide, leveraging his professional football experience to ensure that young talents receive top-tier training and personal and professional development.

Academically, he completed the first cycle of Sciences of Physical Activity and Sport (CAFE) at INEFC Barcelona and holds a Higher Diploma in Team Sports, along with certification as a National Hockey Coach.
In his role as Director of Operations, Roger leads the Academy’s training and development programs, working closely with both staff and players to ensure the successful implementation of youth development objectives. He acts as a mentor and role model for young footballers, guiding them not only in their technical and tactical growth but also in their personal and professional development.
